Poetry

If you’re feeling a bit melancholy then this may be the page for you. Like most I’ve had my ups and downs in life and use poetry as a way to express that, it’s a great way to get something out, although can be a bit tragic!

A Perfect Moment

I put my hand to my chest to feel my heart beat
my hand passed through my chest
i could feel my heart beating
i could feel another heart too
a different one but beating in unison with mine
a hand meet mine and we touched gently
everything around me dissolved into tiny colourfull particles
and swirled around me like a whirlpool

the whirlpool un raveled itself around me
revealing a place i knew well
it was a summer’s morning everything was new and fresh
the sun shone down
A meadow of soft grass and pretty flowers streched before me to the jagged coast line
in the distance the blue sea shimmered

and she was there, resting on her knees in front of me
her white cotten dress flowing over her knees
just sitting there smilling at me, fitting right in
we both got up
slowly we walked the few steps to each other and embraced
like two souls intertwined with each other
as i drew her tighter to me, she dissolved away into nothing
and everthing around me faded to black

The Sea

I am the sea, the calm sea
The giver of life to a world
The warm sea that surrounds you

I am the sea that rages
The angry sea, the destroyer of life
The cold sea that smashes against you

You’re the land, the relentless land
The land that stands against me
The unmoving land that resists me

I am the sea, that you always displace
Crashing against your shores, I try to embrace
To surround you in my warmth.

You’re the land, Unmoved by me
For all eternity

Folly and Fool

What do I make of this folly I’m in?
That makes me behave like a fool
Pure spring water from a mountain
Wrapped up in warm cotton wool

How contradictory is this thing
That seems to rule my all
Misery and joy, in eternal fling
Seem to be at peace when I’m at your door

But to think of you so, I can’t allow
Because my heart, wants you more
If I abandon your sweetness right now
I may just save what came before

But now I’m finally free,
and with your kindness and friendship
That’s what you made me

To a secret Valentine

To the prettiest girl by far,
Here’s hoping you have a happy heart
and when feeling blue,
a warm pair of arms to hold you.

If not, then gladly I offer these
without condition or return.
Perhaps one, a smile so sweet,
That shines from head to feet.

The Simplest Wish

The simplest wish from the purest motive,
Made true by chance, a moment to be seized

Where two enlightened souls ponder each the other’s faces
I see willing in your eyes, and my caution to.

So, with your knowing smile the chance is gone,
For the simplest thing of all.

And in the emptiness I stand there alone,
Wondering to myself why, that should be so.

Clumsy

There’s this person I know
She’s pretty and sweet
Could have the whole world at her feet
If they weren’t so clumsy

But inside there’s this girl
Who understands the world
Sees things clearly
Who I look upon dearly

Gone

When all is said and done,
the long road traveled comes to an end.
An old man holds the door open one last time,
his wrinkled face not concealing his sadness.

soft coloured petals that fall like dust,
through shards of sunlight to the ground.
swirling in the fading warmth as a whirlpool,
Gently slowing, landing on icy cold.

the spring unwinds to nothing,
the great healer has left.
only the fire consumes us now,
the clock’s hands frozen in time.

And silence now,
softly rolling like velvet.
How delicate to touch is the peace,
the memories only dulled and faintly ring.

All rev’ed up and no where to go

I was near home after a long journey, the engine was hot and gearbox smooth, i was enjoying that time when this precision machine is warm and tight, after a good run. The engine was softly purring as i gently came to a rest.

And that song came on, you know the one where suddenly your world is pure emotion, and the machine your in becomes an extension of that.  You just feel, and what I feel burns in me like Hell. Sitting there I know what I want, I tap the accelerator asking her if I should.  And she answers…

Don’t be a fool; this is the moment I was made for, the passion of fire and thunder coursing through me, that my pounding heart was forged from cold steel for. Take me all the way and then slam me in to the next gear, revs bouncing, and hear my soft purr now a fierce growl, as i push you in to me. The thrill and excitement spurring me on to stay true to the road, as your firm hands guide me to where you want me.

In this paradox, where we become one, yet remain ourselves, i lay down the power you’re demanding of me, until the speed builds faster and faster and i feel you tremble as we take the last corner together. Then you release your grip on me, although not mine on you or the road, so i safely and gently bring you down, the burning heat in me now slowing us and dissipating in to the cold night.

And when the journey ends, and I’m walking away, I pause and turn for one last look. Knowing for a fleeting moment, what love truly is.
