Finally after one year, or maybe that should be after only one year, I’ve got the car how i want it… more or less. My pledge to myself when i bought it was to get the ride comfortable and precise, and to that end I’ve done a lot of work including..
- Returned suspension from lowered to stock
- Replaced all drop links and ARB bushes
- Replaced all tyres with higher profile tyres
The last one was completed today, a large split had appeared on the near side front tyre along the sidewall, which is quite dangerous and can lead to a blow out. I was forced to replace it and decided it would be best to replace the other one too, and fit the larger profile tyre i wanted.
I ordered two 215/45/R17 Hankook Ventus V12 Evo tyres from Blackcircles and had them fitted at Total Tyres near Bracknell. This now means that all four tyres are the same model and virtually the same age, as i had the fronts replaced two months ago and rotated to the rears.
The job’s almost done!
Having four new tyres on it, the FTO feels super glued to the road, while at the same time because of the Hankook’s softer sidewall, the ride is a tad smoother too. But the important thing is that the ride is how i want it, not harsh but still precise and coupled with the new clutch and gearbox, driving it is like a dream come true.
