Rear brakes broke

Well a while a go a very bad smell entered the cabin and it turned out to be the driver’s side rear brake caliper getting stuck, causing the pad and disc to overheat and wear down very quickly

Making things worse was that the heat warped the brake disc so for a while when driving at speed, which to be honest was more often than not, a loud low pitched warble would ensue.

I dutifully ordered some new discs and along with some Mintex pads i already had set about swapping them out. To do this you have to first slacken off the handbrake, which for me was a bit tricky.

So to do this you have to remove the little cup holder thingy in the center console which reveals the handbreak cable attached to the hanbreak handle. To loosen it you turn the 10mm nut on the left until there’s slack.

Thing is when i did this it just kept spinning, but after alot of swearing i realised you just had to hold the cable on the right handside to get it slacken off. Easy when you know how!

Anyway, I managed to unstick the caliper and fitted the discs and pads so all in a good job to get done, and with no bad smells or strange warbles!
